Although they are earth's largest land animals, they blend perfectly into the bush and can easily be passed by unnoticed. The trunk is the muscular extension of the upper lip , containing the nostrils and two fingerlike projections. They are strict vegetarians and feed on bark, roots, leaves, soft branches, grass and fruits.
