Imagem
We are preparing our next expedition to Africa and have almost everything settled for this exciting photography safari adventure which will take 15 days on board of a truck, travelling from Johannersburg - South Africa to Livingstone - Zambia, passing by Khama Rhino Sanctuary, Central Kalahari, Maun, Okavango Delta, Nxai Pan, Makgadikgadi Pans and Chobe National Park. Our expedition has been organized by OVERLANDINGAFRICA.COM and MARINGA TURISMO GLOBAL TRAVEL COMPANY.

Home sweet home

What nice place to stay during your first safari in Africa. I definitely recommend.

Wild Dog

Imagem
These guys are quite interesting. You watch them playing around for few minutes and soon you want to step out the jeep to touch and play with them - that's what I almost done when the driver hold my arm asking if I was crazy.. for a fraction of second I forgot that they were wild animals and could kill me whitin seconds.

Real Life

The commonest prey of lions is impala, zebra and wildbeest, but some prides regulary kill buffalo and giraffe, like the picture clicked first time in the morning when we were starting our safari.

Having Lunch

Imagem
Although they are earth's largest land animals, they blend perfectly into the bush and can easily be passed by unnoticed. The trunk is the muscular extension of the upper lip , containing the nostrils and two fingerlike projections. They are strict vegetarians and feed on bark, roots, leaves, soft branches, grass and fruits.

Ready to depart

That was the second thing I have confirmed in Africa, an elephant safari, which was a great experience. Firstly they line-up all the animals in front of you in order to introduce themselves, a sort of welcome to our place... than they bring one of the elephants closer where we have the chance to feed it and also touch and interact with the animal. Afterwoods we hide them and walk all over the place watching other animals and wildlife in general. By the way, the first confirmation was a walking safari... amazing!!!

Zebras

Imagem
Look for zebras on grasslands,  plains and open or lightly wooded areas, close to water. The males and females look alike and are often found in large aggregations at water holes. No two zebras have  exactly the same strip pattern. Zebras often rest in pairs with their heads placed on the other's back, facing in opposite directions. This enables a pair to watch for danger in all directions and brush flies off each other's face.

African Giraffes

Imagem
Look for giraffes where there are food trees for them to browse. They are visible from afar since they are the tallest mammals and largest ruminants. They have extremely long tongues (45cm) and can reach foliage that is beyond the reach of other browsers. Despite its great lenght, the giraffe's neck has only seven vertebrae like all other mammals.

Watching you!

Imagem
It was hot and we were almost preparing to return to the camp when someone call through the radio and informed that there was a pride in certain region of the park. Driver asked us to hold tight and we start running to get the big cats... when we arrived we could see some of them getting out of the bush and after while, on my right hand side, she was there, watching us all.

After Dinner

Imagem
It was almost 6pm when we saw this  big male crossing the path to rest at the other side of the road. Later, we were informed that it was eating a baby giraffe on his own.

African Elephant

Imagem
I quite remember how dangerous was to click this picture - We were all seated inside the land cruiser just watching the big guys playing around when this male came from the top of the hill, silent, whit ears pinned back and trunk lowered, which means he was coming for a serious charge. Elephants may try to scare you by kicking up dust, flapping ears, trumpeting and lifting the trunk.

African Tracker

Imagem
These guys are the best  ones in terms of  no fear... They normally stay in the seat placed outside the jeep and their job is to help the ranger (driver) to find out foot prints and animals so we can click it. The guy in the picture, never been in a big city before, but in the other hand, he is so confident when walking in the savanna that make us feeling very confortable and secure.

Lion - The King

Imagem
Lions have no specific habitat preference and can be encountered anywhere, except in forests. In the early morning they often rest on the road or are found on a kill. Different prides have different hunting preferences and patterns.

Cheetah - Fast, sharp and beautiful

Imagem
The cheetah needs bushes, grass or other cover to get within sprinting range of its prey. It is built for speed - light-boned, long thin-legged, short necked, with a slender body and a long tail. It can attain a speed of up to 110km per hour, making it the fastest mammal on land.
